GAP CFDA Designers Collection Part 2

Have you gone to Gap yet?

As mentioned in my last blog entry, Gap has paired with CFDA/Vogue fashion fund award winners Rodarte, Doo-Ri and Thakoon for a one-off collection that's inspired by the iconic white shirt. Nine items featuring flowing shirts and trapeze shirt dresses go on sale today at selected U.S. stores and on Gap.com.

The collection captures each designers' unique aesthetics. It goes literally from classic to simply daring. I love Rodarte's romantic renditions (the cute baby doll bow top!) but stop short of Thakoon's voluminous silhouette. A shirt dress with petal-like bottom looks great on the rack but horrific in person. It's like wearing a dead bird without a head. Doo-Ri's flowing shirt-dress is classic and feminine, much more wearable by the masses.

The winning piece? Rodarte's trapeze shirt dress. The item is completely sold out on Gap.com on its first day.
