Summer to Early Fall Dressing Part 2

One can't go into full fall dressing without the right accessories. Pay attention to the few trends that's emerging this fall:

Structured bags/Day clutches: After two seasons of big, slouchy bags, lady-like structured bags are making a comeback. While most designers sent boxier ones down the runway this Fall, my personal favorite is a day tote by Anna Corinna that's still structured but big enough to hold all the essentials. Another accessory to stack up is a great day clutch that's bigger than its evening cousin. Miu Miu, Prada all made fabulous renditions in sumptious colored satins or leather.

Booties: Get those booties before they are all gone! A friend of mine recently paired a pair of black booties with knee-length pencil skirt, a white shirt with black wide belt for a summer cruise. She looks fabulously chic. Booties are a great way to update your summer dresses into fall.

Belts: I'm not a belt type of gal, however, belts are here to stay and I'm willing to go for another try! Belts are popping up everywhere -- in Marni dresses, in lady-like jackets, in YSL high-waisted skirts...the possibilities are endless. Just don't fall for the trend of wearing big belts that are too wide for your body. Know your waist well and find the right width that highlights -- not hide -- your silhouette.

Summer to Early Fall Dressing Part 1

Can't believe we are talking about early fall dressing in the middle of the Indian Summer! Inspired by those pre-fall assortment that's gradually creeping into stores, there are few pieces chicettes should stack up now for a breezing summer to fall transition:

Sweater Dresses: Have you seen the 59th St. Bloomingdales windows recently? Bloomies' displaying a great assortment of sweater dresses from LA-based designer Vince. Sweater dresses are here to stay this fall. Update last year's versions by adding more accessories, such as a fabulous belt or long necklaces. My favorite piece is a funnel-necked Vince cashmere dress with three-quarter sleeves. Pair them with bare legs now and add tights as the temperature drops!

Leather Jackets: I'm not talking about the 80s type, motorcycle leather jackets. I'm talking about the cute small ones with a 60s or balloon silhouette -- great for pairing with those menswear-inspired pants this fall! Mike & Christ, Vince, Topshop and H&M have all made a fabulous rendition of Balenciaga-styled jackets in fun colored leather. The jackets, come in orange, tan, black etc., will look chic when paired with wide-legged jeans.

Sweater Jackets: Juicy Couture has come a long way from their terry or velour tracksuits to full fledge RTW bridge designer. I'm falling in love with a 3/4 sleeve marled sweater coat that looks quite similar to the Couture Couture version introduced in Fall 2006. My favorite cheap fashion stop, Target, will introduce a great sweater coat designed by Alice Temperley this September. All these fabulous coats will go well with the breezy summer dresses when the temperature drops.
