Fall Shopping Guide Part 1

Let's get down to business, fashionistas. Time to open your wallets.

Summer is almost over. Sad to say but true. All the designers are doing their last markdowns of Spring/Summer stock before launching their full Fall/Winter collections. Get your last summer items and start stocking up your winter wardrobe. You hear it here first.

Stumped on what to get this season? Recently I came across Style.com's Fall 2007 shopping guide and Net-a-Porter's Fall Top 10 list. Both recommend strong, editorially stylish ladylike looks that are growing to be the definitive of this season. They include statement-making coats, structured bags, stillettos of the season, and various easy separates that can transform from day to night, from casual to formal.

I've selected a few of my own that I'd gladly open my checkbook any day:

Statement coat: For me, winter is not winter without a cute, warm coat. Style.com suggested a houndstooth jacquard car coat by Mint. To me, the pattern and Jackie-O inspired shape can't make it any more cuter than it already is. It's the perfect item to spice up any boring, monotoned winter outfit. For a more casual look I'd go for the Uniqlo's white puffy jacket.

Day Dress: 3.1 Phillip Lim's checkered sleeve dress will go perfectly with those black Wolford tights that I've been living in all last winter. Or, to go real daring try Generra's striped wool dress for a Edie Sedwick-esque look. Gap has also made a fabulous rendition of the Little Black Dress in cotton/wool mix. The shift is perfect for that ladylike look this season.

Knits & Sweaters: I love love Love the small bell-sleeves when it come to sweater dressing. Winter is no better time to try the sweater dress look, so I'd buy Vince's bell-sleeve cashmere sweater dress. And winter isn't winter if I don't get a Stella Mccartney knit. Wear it alone with thick winter tights or layered it with jeans or a slip dress for cocktail. There's so much to play with it it's almost like a toy.

Pants: Menswear-look is back, so therefore it's time to invest in a nice, high-waisted wide legged pants. Organic's 100% organic wool high-waisted pants scream Right Now! and elegance. Everyone's going green, so why shouldn't your pants do the same?
