Welcome to 10022-SHOE

Designer shoe salons are a dime and a dozen especially in a place like New York. However, have you been to one that actually owns its own zip-code?

The New York Post first reported that on Aug. 17, Saks Fifth Avenue New York flagship will unveil a new shoe store on the 8th floor. In fact, the shoe floor will be so huge that it will come with its own zip code granted by the U.S. Postal Service -- 10022-SHOE.

It is a huge move from the current 4th floor shoe salon and the Roger Vivier boutique on the 3rd floor. The expansion calls for a space that would hold 10,000 pairs -- enough to cater for the current roster of 38 designers plus 9 more such as Derek Lam, Costume National and Sergio Rossi.

And it doesn't stop there. 10022-SHOE will feature a shoe repair service, an express elevator that takes shoe-mavens straight up to the floor, and a Charbonnel et Walker chocolate cafe for the much needed shoe-hype wind down.

How's that for "Let's go shoe shopping?" Imagine what would happen during sale time?
