Fashion Week: Jackie Rogers
A look at Jackie Rogers' front row and you'll understand the type of aesthetic Rogers would go for for her Fall 2008 collection. Society sophistication and strong tailoring dominated Rogers' collection, which featured 38 pieces of strong suits, classic sheath dresses, and flowing silk crepe eveningwear.
Trained by Coco Chanel herself, Rogers learned the style and techniques from the famed House of Chanel in the early 60s. Working with similar techniques as Chanel herself, Rogers uses fabrication and never sketches. She molds, contours and sculpts the fabric until a defining shape appears. This technique resulted in perfectly sculpted silhouettes that are strong but flow with the body. -- Edith Moy
